Exeter Air Source Heat Pump Installation Overview
Synergi SW recently completed a Taunton Air Source Heat Pump Installation for a property undergoing significant renovation and modernisation.
The project required a full low-carbon heating and hot water solution, designed to suit a well-insulated home and support an underfloor heating system.
Working alongside the on-site electrical contractor and other trades, our engineers delivered a complete renewable setup from first fix through to commissioning and handover.
Design and Installation
The heart of the system is a Mitsubishi Ecodan 5kW air source heat pump, chosen for its class-leading efficiency, reliability and suitability for low-temperature heating systems. The unit was installed with a full control package, including weather compensation and an external temperature sensor to optimise performance throughout the year.
Inside the property, we fitted a 170L Joule UK unvented hot water cylinder, ensuring ample hot water capacity while maintaining high efficiency. The system was designed to pair seamlessly with the new open-loop underfloor heating system, providing consistent, comfortable heating through low-temperature flow.
First Fix Works
During the first-fix stage, our engineers supplied and installed:
- Above-ground drainage
- Hot and cold pipework to all required points
- Full primary and secondary pipework routes
- Heating distribution pipework for the underfloor heating system
All works were completed in line with project drawings and coordinated with the renovation schedule to avoid delays.
Second Fix Works
At second fix, Synergi SW:
- Installed all specified sanitaryware and brassware
- Connected and commissioned the underfloor heating system
- Completed the second-fix electrical wiring for heating controls
- Integrated the ASHP, cylinder, and control system into the home’s final plumbing and heating layout
The electrical contractor on site provided the final supply to the heat pump, ready for our team to complete system wiring and checks.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
Once installation was complete, our engineers:
- Tested the air source heat pump
- Balanced and commissioned the underfloor heating system
- Checked hot water production and cylinder performance
- Verified weather compensation operation via the external sensor
- Carried out full safety and operational tests
A detailed handover was provided to the homeowner, including user guidance, maintenance advice and all system documentation.
Outcome
This Taunton Air Source Heat Pump Installation delivers a highly efficient, future-proof heating and hot water system designed around modern living. The combination of Mitsubishi Ecodan technology, a Joule unvented cylinder and a fully integrated underfloor heating system ensures low running costs, consistent comfort and long-term reliability.
Another successful renewable project completed for a Somerset homeowner looking to reduce carbon emissions and embrace the benefits of low-temperature heating.
