New Combi Boiler Benefits

A combi boiler (or combination boiler) heats water instantly when you turn on the tap, so?you do not need a storage cylinder or tank in the attic or airing cupboard. Since its instantaneous, combi boilers are a lot more cost-effective and energy efficient than a standard boiler which stores hot water (some of which may go to waste if it is not used).
Additionally, hot water is delivered at mains pressure, which could mean a powerful shower without needing a pump.

More Storage

Combi boilers don’t require a tank or cylinder, so that’s more space in your cupboards or loft for handy storage space.

No Loft Pipes

Pipes are more likely to freeze if they are in your loft. Combi boilers are placed in a cupboard in your home so your loft is clear of pipework.

Instant Hot Water

Combi boilers heat water instantly, which means there’s no waiting for your shower to heat up and no chance of running out of hot water half way!

Compact in Size

Combi boilers are small in size so are great for flats and small houses. For larger houses larger combi boilers are available with more power.

Should I replace my regular boiler with a combi?

Benefits of switching from a conventional boiler to a combi

Amazing hot water flow for great showers!

If you’re craving the instant hot water a combi boiler can provide you may be considering swapping your conventional (also known as regular) boiler.

They’ll also provide you with more space, as you won’t need a hot water tank. Imagine what you could do with all that extra storage room.

Additionally, they are typically more efficient because they heat the hot water on demand, rather than storing it. A regular boiler usually produces hot water twice a day, regardless of if it gets used or not. As a result, you could see huge savings on your energy bill.

Finally, once you have used all the hot water a regular boiler creates it could take a while for more hot water to heat up. If you’ve ever sat round waiting for enough hot water to run a bath then a combi boiler could be perfect for you.

When might a combi boiler not be suitable?

Combi boilers work best when you don’t use lots of hot water sources at one time. For example, if you have two bathrooms and normally have two people needing a hot shower at the same time in the morning before work, a combi boiler might not be a suitable solution.

A conversion to a combi boiler from a regular boiler will be more expensive than just a straight swap. Prices start from £2,750, but we do offer 0% finance to help spread the cost with low monthly repayments. Contact us for a home survey and quote.

Is replacing a regular boiler with a combination boiler a lot of work?

Whilst you can replace your boiler at any time, it usually makes sense if you are planning major work or a refurbishment to minimise any upheaval for things like new pipes or radiators. Sometimes we might have to relocate the boiler position too.

If you’re unsure about whether it is the right time to replace your boiler for a combi, give us a ring and we’ll guide you through your options.

Top tip: if you are planning a refurbishment, take the time to consider any additional insulation you can put in to help save even more money on your energy bills.

How much does a new combi boiler cost?

It depends on whether you need gas or oil, but combi boiler installations start from £1750 for a budget option and £1950 for an award-winning Worcester Bosch boiler.

We offer 0% finance to help spread the cost over low monthly repayments. Contact us for a free, no obligation quote.

Other Boiler Types

System Boiler

A system boiler pumps hot water to the radiators and a sealed hot water storage cylinder. Most major components of the heating and hot water system are built into the boiler, making installation easier, tidier and more efficient, and also simplifies servicing.

System boilers combine high efficiency and high performance with exceptional ‘green’ credentials.

Regular Boiler

Heat only boilers are also known as ‘regular’ or ‘conventional’ boilers. If you are replacing an old boiler and have a small expansion tank and a larger cold water storage cistern in your loft space, you probably already have a heat only boiler.

Heat only boilers are usually installed on an open vented system.?The system will usually comprise two tanks in the loft.
