How much does a new boiler cost UK 2023?
For a simple, like for like replacement of a combi boiler prices start from £1600. However there are a lot of variable factors when it comes to pricing a new boiler including:
- the type of boiler you have
- the size of your property
- the type of control you choose (smart controls are more expensive)
- the length of guarantee you would prefer
- the location of your boiler

Will getting a new boiler help with energy bills?
Will I have to replace my gas boiler in 2025?
A common misunderstanding circulating around this topic is that homeowners who have gas boilers must change them before 2025. We appreciate that many will be worried about this, however, this is not true. Under the government’s current plans, this ban only applies to boilers in new build homes from 2025 onwards. This means any new homes must be built with a non-gas heating system.
At the moment there are no plans to phase out gas boilers in existing homes. So, if we’ve just installed a brand new, shiny boiler in your home, don’t worry! There is nothing you need to do. Equally, if you’re in the market to replace an existing gas boiler, you can do so with no problem.
Another misconception to come from this news is that people who still have gas boilers by 2025 will be fined or punished, as implied by a recent announcement made from the International Energy Agency (IEA). However this is just speculation and the government have not announced fines for homeowners.

Is replacing a boiler a messy job?
Unfortunately yes, there will be a small amount of dust and distruption, however we take steps to be as clean as possible. This includes putting down dust sheets, wearing shoe coverings and tidying up after ourselves.
To make it easier for us to keep the area clean we recommend that you put any loose items around the immediate area into cupboards and keep the area as clear as possible.
How long does it take to install a new boiler?
It usually takes 1-3 days to install a new boiler. Factors include:
- the type of boiler you have
- the size of your property
- the location of your boiler

From Combi Boilers to System Boilers
Combi Boiler
Combi boilers (or combination boilers) are the UK’s most popular type of boiler for gas central heating and domestic hot water.
A Combi boiler only heats water when a hot tap or shower is turned on, ensuring maximum efficiency. There is no need to find space for a water storage cylinder or have a tank in the loft.
System Boiler
A system boiler pumps hot water to the radiators and a sealed hot water storage cylinder. Most major components of the heating and hot water system are built into the boiler, making installation easier, tidier and more efficient, and also simplifies servicing.
System boilers combine high efficiency and high performance with exceptional ‘green’ credentials.
Regular Boiler
Heat only boilers are also known as ‘regular’ or ‘conventional’ boilers. If you are replacing an old boiler and have a small expansion tank and a larger cold water storage cistern in your loft space, you probably already have a heat only boiler.
Heat only boilers are usually installed on an open vented system. The system will usually comprise two tanks in the loft.
